2020 Annual Conference - Springfield, Illinois

First Time Attendee Scholarship

GLACUHO is pleased to be able to award four scholarships to first time attendees of the GLACUHO Annual Conference, one per state for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. The scholarship will cover the cost of a full, on-time registration for the conference. The scholarship award winners will be announced prior to the on-time registration deadline for the conference.

Scholarship Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply:

  • Be a first time GLACUHO Annual Conference attendee.

  • Be from a GLACUHO member institution and be employed in any housing area (dining services, residence life, apartments, marketing, facilities, operations, technology).

  • Be a full time graduate student or full time professional.

  • Be in financial need of a scholarship in order to attend the conference.

  • If selected, must you submit an article to the GLACUHO Trends publication on your conference experience or serve as a committee member for the following year.

Application Procedures

  • Submit a completed application online by Monday, September 30, 2019.
  • If registration has already been paid, the award recipient will be reimbursed the cost of registration. 

Essay Questions

During the application process, you will need to answer several essay questions. You may wish to prepare your answers in advance and paste them into the application below. Please limit each answer to 2,000 characters or less. For your convenience, the questions are provided here:


  • How does attending the GLACUHO Annual Conference influence your professional development plan and future goals? (20 points)

  • If you receive this scholarship, how do you plan to contribute to GLACUHO in the next calendar year? (20 points)

  • How do you live out GLACUHO’s values of personal, professional, and organizational growth; service; visionary leadership; and inclusivity in your current position on your own campus? (20 points)

  • Please describe how your institution is financially supporting your attendance at the Annual GLACUHO Conference. Please consider the following areas: Conference Registration, Lodging, Travel Expenses, Meals. Please also include any other ways your institution may or may not be providing support for your conference attendance. (40 points)

Scholarship Funds

  • Four scholarships will be awarded, one per state (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio)

  • The scholarship will cover the on-time registration cost for one delegate. If the recipient registers after the deadline, the recipient will be responsible for the additional amount above and beyond the on-time registration rate.


  • Applications due by Monday, September 30, 2019.

  • Scholarship recipients will be announced by October 11, 2019.

  • All scholarship applicants will be notified of their status when the recipients are announced.

Scholarship Selection

The State Delegates will review all applications. Based upon the established point system, each application will be scored by each State Delegate. The applications from each state with the highest overall score will be recommended as the recipient of the scholarship. The GLACUHO President will review the recommendation and have final approval.
