Facilities Tour

Michigan State University’s new development, 1855 Place, frames the area and is a gateway to campus. With Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS) and MSU Athletics administration finding a new, consolidated home at the site, not only are residents able to easily secure tickets to the next big game, but the benefits of this new collaborative and efficient workspace is felt across the university.

The development includes 429 units in 10 separate apartment buildings comprising 450,000 sf of housing, a 102,000 square foot office building for RHS and various units of Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, event ticketing sales, RHS retail space, a community garden, townhomes and plenty of open common green space.  It also incorporates 1,200 surface parking spaces and 880 parking structure spaces.  Combined with the nearby University Village development and land west of the property, it is a total of 39 acres of development.

Housing options include one bedroom studio apartments, four-bedroom townhomes and larger two or four-bedroom apartments, and offer students better access to the resources they need for their studies.

1855 Place offers a flexible concept, designed to provide a customized experience for both single students and student families in an accessible, walkable, urban setting.  New facilities offer a blend of study and community spaces, supporting a new vision for how MSU students live, work and play.

1855 Place is within walking distance from the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. The Facilities Tour will occur on Tuesday, October 22 between 10:15 AM - 12:30 PM and is capped to 30 attendees. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the office space, retail, ticket office and student housing options.

Due to the close proximity of the tour and conference sites, ground transportation will not be provided. The Facilities & Operations Committee is committed to supporting all of our members - if you require accommodations to participate in the tour, please email Gregory Whitmore, Facilities & Operations Committee Chair at greg.whitmore@glacuho.org as soon as possible. Prior registration for this opportunity is required. Attendees are asked to meet at the registration area of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center to begin the tour.
