The 2019 Annual Conference will be held in East Lansing, Michigan on October 20-22, 2019!.

Greetings GLACUHO Colleagues!

The Programming & Development Committee is now accepting program proposals for the 2019 GLACUHO annual conference in East Lansing, Michigan! The 2019 Host Committee is preparing another outstanding conference and we are again dedicated to providing a strong programmatic component to complement the Host Committee’s work.

The Association prides itself on being a premiere housing association and strongly values quality conference programs. We encourage all members— graduate students, entry-, mid-, and senior-level professionals—to submit program proposals and to take part in an opportunity to share knowledge with colleagues from across the region. Consider these helpful tips as you develop your program.

  • Reflect upon your expertise. Do you work with a unique pocket of students? Did you or your campus implement an innovative research-based initiative? We want to hear about it!

  • Pull in professionals from other areas. Providing a second expert offers the audience another valuable professional perspective which they may have not previously considered.

  • You don’t have to stick to the traditional 60 minutes. We want to see proposals for traditional presentations and roundtables, but also consider the poster, Res Talk,  and learning-on-the-go sessions.

  • Don’t forget about this year’s contemporary issue, Student Advocacy: Helping Support Students with Dissenting Behaviors. We welcome proposals surrounding this topic as an opportunity to build dialogue on an important issue.

  • Use your resources to help prepare your program! We will share more information throughout the upcoming months, but you can also find helpful information in Trends magazine, on the Programming and Development Committee page, and monthly newsletters from your state delegate. Additionally, the Program Submission Guide provides valuable information for anyone interested in submitting a proposal, whether it’s your first proposal or fiftieth.

  • Keep in mind these are merely suggestions, and also remember to showcase creativity, passion, and experience in your proposal!

The   is now live and all proposals are due by Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. (CDT). Please contact Eddie Koelzer at programming@glacuho.org with any questions.

We are excited to learn what the membership will be teaching and learning at this year’s annual conference. We hope you consider sharing your expertise with your GLACUHO colleagues!
