Question about Residency Requirement
I am wondering if anyone can share what they do to communicate their residency requirement to their students? We are just rolling our requirement out and Admissions is asking for help  "selling this."

As a four-year live-on liberal arts institution in western Illinois, the Residence Life Office at Monmouth College doesn't do much to communicate our residency requirement. However, we talk a lot about the various on-campus housing options available from 1st-year students through seniors. We simply market ourselves as this type of liberal arts institution.

Our residency requirement is unique, in that it's tied to a student's ability to remain enrolled. At present, we have a one year requirement, which is communicated to students via Admissions as well as through our department website. There isn't really a need for us to "sell" it to students, as it's a policy, so if a student has issue with it, they would need to explore another university. Any exceptions (very rare) are made by the College Dean of Students office and communicated to our department.
