Most of us enter student affairs because we want to be educators, but a significant amount of our jobs are managing priorities, people, and processes. We often think of supervision as a top down, two-way directive, communication strategy, which creates disempowerment, disconnection, and lack of buy-in. This strategy also discounts the value and necessity of managing up. How do we set our supervisors up for success? How do we train them to meet our needs as supervisees so that we can lead our team? And how do we also informally influence our colleagues so that we help build consistent teams across the division? This webinar focuses on a comprehensive strategy to manage up to your direct supervisors, better guide your supervisees, and create stronger relationships to help create a synchronous work environment.
