Establish, Evolve, Expand: Leading the Way to Tomorrow
GLACUHO 2019 East Lansing, MI

The field of Housing and Residence Life is a dynamic profession, always changing and modifying at a rapid pace to keep up with our morphing populations. We have created a loop of establishing policies and practices, evolving based on need, and expanding our mindset through continued learning and assessment. Furthermore, 2019 is the last year of the decade. As we prepare to take steps into the brand new decade, we need to learn from the past and continue to look for fresh and innovative ways to best serve our student populations.

Additionally, student affairs began from in loco parentis. When students pushed back, we listened and evolved: caring more about their development into independent adulthood. As the years have passed, as we’ve gathered more information, and as technology has given us a world of knowledge and connection, we expand our circle of influence: thinking globally and beyond.

Additionally, these values are important to Michigan State University (MSU). MSU was established as a pioneer land grant institution, designed to give people access to education in a way they had never been able to before. Through the years, MSU evolved from a college to a university, focusing on how to make students successful and teach them to have a voice in the world. Today, we’ve expanded our vision: we work towards helping students become leaders that will impact and serve the world.

We are proud to invite you to Michigan State University for GLACUHO 2019 as we continue to establish, evolve, and expand. Leading the way to tomorrow.
