Parking

Hyatt Regency Cincinnati offers valet parking for overnight guests at a rate of $30 per night with in and out privileges.

Travel & Ground Transportation

If you are flying, ground transportation from the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG Airport) can be reserved through Airport Executive Shuttle for $22 one-way or $32 round trip. You may call 1-859- 261-8841 or 1-800-990- 8841 24 hours in advance to guarantee a reservation.

Walk-up service, as well as rental car agencies, are also available in the baggage claim area. Taxi service is approximately $35 one-way.

Electronic versions of the reports shared at the business meeting will be available to members here in early November 2016.

Registration Rates

Type Rate Deadline to Register (by 5:00pm Eastern Time)
Regular Registration $220 Register by 5:00pm Eastern on Thursday, October 27. Deadline has passed.
Late Registration $270 Register by 5:00pm Eastern on Thursday, November 3. Deadline has passed.
On-Site Registration $320 No online registrations will be accepted after November 3. Register on-site when you arrive.

 

In order to qualify for the regular registration rate, check payments must be postmarked by Thursday, October 27. Online registration closes on Thursday, November 3, and all attendees wishing to register after that date will need to register on site.

Accessibility or Lactation Accommodations 

Should you need any special requests for accessibility accommodations or access to a lactation room during your experience at the conference, please contact Alison Berland (2016@glacuho.org) by October 22, 2016.

Conference Highlights

FIFTH Annual Silent Auction

We are excited to announce the fifth annual Silent Auction at the Annual Conference to benefit the ACUHO-I Foundation. The auction will take place on Monday and Tuesday during the conference. All attendees are invited to visit the Silent Auction space to view the items and to place bids.

We are currently seeking donations to be entered into the Silent Auction. Individuals, institutions, and exhibitors may choose to donate items and services. Donations are not limited to commercially available items; we welcome your creativity and works of art!  If you would like to donate an item for the Silent Auction, please click here for more information and to register your donated item(s).

Lunch and Learn: Declining Student Resilience

The Student Learning Committee is excited to offer Lunch and Learn, a free opportunity for GLACUHO conference attendees! We will discuss a case study on the topic of student resiliency and discuss the strategic programmatic, behavioral and academic interventions that we a housing officers and campus administrators can provide to cultivate skill building for our students. Space is limited, and interested participants should sign-up during conference registration. The event will take place Tuesday, November 15, from 12:30-2:00pm (during the open lunch time.)

Case Study Competition

The Contemporary Issues Committee is sponsoring the Case Study Competition for graduate students and entry-level professionals. This year's case study topic is Navigating Change in Housing and Residential Life. Participants will sign up in pairs and will be sent the case study by Friday, November 11. Then, on Monday, November 14, the pairs will present their results to the judges during the time selected when they sign up.

GLOW-CUHO 5k

The Health and Wellness Committee is excited to announce the return of the GLOW-CUHO 5k on Sunday evening after the opening banquet! We will traverse our way through beautiful downtown Cincinnati! Beginning at the conference hotel, the Hyatt Regency, we will walk, run or roll a 1.5 mile loop past Fountain Square, The Great American Ballpark, the Ohio River and Paul Brown Stadium. The loop will be staffed with conference volunteers throughout. Travel the loop twice for a 5k or once for a quick post-dinner exploration! Participants should meet at 8:00pm on Sunday, November 13, at the corner of 5th and Elm (the corner between the Duke and the Hyatt.) Pack warm gear for our midwest November weather! Consider wearing bright clothing to increase your visibility and to fit the GLOW theme!

This is a free event, and advance registration is requested (during conference registration).

GLACUHO Night 'Out'

The Inclusion and Equity Committee will be sponsoring GLACUHO Night 'Out'/LGBT+ and Ally Social. This social will take place on Sunday, November 13, at Below Zero Lounge. There will be a signature GLACUHO drink, available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties. The venue is within walking distance of the conference center.

Prayer and Meditation Space

At this year's annual conference, GLACUHO has designated a space for delegates of all faiths, creeds, and backgrounds to commit time to prayer and/or meditation. The space will be open and available throughout the day, providing a quiet setting for these activities as delegates deem necessary. Please feel welcomed to make use of this space!

GLACUHO Gives Back - Service Project

The Inclusion and Equity Committee will be sponsoring a service project activity at the conference. This year, GLACUHO Gives Back will be done through a presentation called GLACUHO Gives Back: Social Justice through Volunteerism. We will be working with Lighthouse Youth Services, an organization that provides shelter for displaced LGBT+ youths, by preparing "first night" resource kits. The materials for these kits have already been gathered, and we will be assembling the kits and bundling them together during this presentation.

Facilities Tour at University of Cincinnati

The Facilities & Operations Committee is pleased to offer the annual facilities tour at this year's conference. This year we will tour residence halls at University of Cincinnati and learn about UC's award-winning designs and public-private partnerships. The tour will take place on Tuesday, November 15, and will begin at 10:15am and conclude by 12:15pm. Participants will meet near the registration table at the Duke Energy Convention Center to pick up the shuttle that will take us on the tour.

Participation is free but space is limited to 48 participants. Advance registration is required during the conference registration process, and tickets will be available until all spots are taken..

Scholarship Opportunities

GLACUHO First Time Attendee Scholarship

We are pleased to offer four scholarships for first time conference attendees, one per state for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. The scholarship will cover the cost of a full, on-time registration for the conference.

GLACUHO offers New School Involvement Scholarships to enable the attendance of one staff member from a school in each state that has not been engaged in GLACUHO during the last three years. The scholarship will cover the cost of a full, on-time registration for the conference.
