Greetings!
Welcome to the Facilities and Operations committee webpage. The committee this year is excited to begin a new chapter within GLACUHO as the committee has evolved from the previous Residential Facilities and Technology committees. Joining these two areas has given our committee lots to research, share through this webpage, and present at the annual conference with the GLACUHO membership.
The Facilities and Operations committee plans to research areas within housing facilities and dining operations to identify new technology and systems that enable housing and dining professionals to be more efficient as well as up to date with methods of operation and serving 21st century students.
The committee will be researching the following areas in order to provide “easy to find” information on this web page as well as programming at the annual conference. So check in often to this page as it will continue to develop and offer more each week:
• Building Design
designing for millennial: style and purpose; Meeting the developmental needs of suite style & apartment communities; Analyzing building design verses building community
• Technology
Phones, landline removal, voice over IP ;Camera monitors, keyless entry, wireless systems and other monitor systems – collaborating with the Crisis Management and Safety committee; Paperless check in and room condition software; Freeware: Google, wiki, doodle, prezi, openoffice, buzz, wiggio
• Occupancy management

• Sustainability
RecycleMania and green education ; Trash to Treasure models, Hoosier to Hoosier Community Sale, end of year collections; Cost effectiveness & Green innovations, i.e. carpet squares ; Energy, Food, and water waste competitions; Trayless Dining
