Our Purpose

To better prepare housing officers to meet the diverse and changing needs of those we serve with primary concern for students.

To contribute to the improvement of dining services, residential life, and residential facilities provided by housing officers.

To advance and communicate professional knowledge and standards in the field of student housing.

To provide opportunities for education of professional development of housing officers.

To sponsor activities and services which assist housing officers in the exchange and distribution of information and ideas.

To be supportive of the goals and purposes of the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I).

Get Involved on a Committee

The GLACUHO Board of Directors is currently seeking housing officers in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio to serve on one of the GLACUHO committees.

We are the Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers. We are here to learn, lead, and serve with Housing professionals in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

Our online community has been designed to serve as a resource for our members, a place to network and interact, and a portal for all of the professional development opportunities we offer.

About Our Website

We are excited to have launched this website in 2014. After seeking feedback from our members, from exhibitors, and from our board, we knew that an updated website was important to our members and necessary to move our association forward. After careful research and months of planning and development, we launched this site with hope that it will continue to meet he needs of the association for years to come..

Some of these new features include interactive groups by state and committee, professional networking, resources and events, as well as other features that are still being implemented.

Check out our Discussion Forums to engage with colleagues from across campus, or across the region! Whether benchmarking, discussing best practices or the latest trends in student housing, or participating in online professional development such as a book club or webinar discussion, the Forums offer a convenient place for members to interact.

Committee Resources

GLACUHO sponsors nine committees, each charged with covering a range of topics that impact student housing. Each committee develops educational materials and resources, plans and presents programs at the conference, organizes and facilitates free webinars, and sponsors other impactful initiatives.
